Green Building Austria: Cooperations and Market Preparation in the Asian Region

The goal of this project Green Building Austria is to support the dissemination of results of the programs building of tomorrow, building of tomorrow plus and city of tomorrow in order to support a fortified export of Austrian expertise in the field of green buildings and to promote future cooperation. Different types of information and dissemination materials were prepared for that purpose and for various target groups like policymakers or architects in the Asian region including a Powerpoint presentation in English with translations in Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Thai. Additionally the concept and design of 3 roll ups in the size of 900 x 2000 mm for targeting stakeholders with interest in the field of new buildings, renovations or cities. The roll ups were especially designed for the Chinese market and are therefore bilingual in English and Chinese. The dissemination material contains information about the Austrian research and development strategy, important results in the history of the programs so far and 12 selected best practice projects realised within these programs like the ENERGYbase, the S-House or Aspern+. In order to promote this purpose and to support the establishment of an Austrian Green Building Standard in the Asian region, members of GrAT have actively participated in 7 international conferences, where results of the programs were presented to a professional audience. Furthermore especially with regards to the setup of a network and long-time cooperation, meetings with stakeholders of the 7 target countries Korea, Japan, China, Philippines, Thailand, Bhutan and Nepal as well as stakeholders of 4 additional countries including India, Iran, Malaysia and Hungary have taken place. Austrian Innovations and “high-tech” solutions are especially relevant for co-operations with Korea, Japan and China while Nepal and Bhutan benefit more from affordable “low-tech” building solutions and intelligent planning. Southeast Asian countries have an enormous demand regarding active and passive cooling systems. These conditions should be considered for a successful international implementation of an Austrian Green Building standard.
